The French Revolution started when the Third Estate rebelled against the government for not giving citizens equality, liberty, & a fair democracy. The Estates are like the social classes. The first estate are the church & government officials. The second estate are the nobles and people like that. Finally the third estate is everyone else, that's 90% of France's population. People started to protest but had little to no success. They needed change until it finally lead them to violence and started the French Revolution.
Marie Antoinette & Louis XVI got overthrown by the people. Then came Maximilien Robespierre,France's dictator for a year, but in that year the Reign of Terror happened. The Reign of Terror was the time Robespierre killed any one he hated, disagreed with, or merely disliked. He had the guillotine created just for this. The Guillotine is a blade in between two pieces of wood that drops beheading a person in seconds, but there were many other methods used during this time.
